Series 2 – Foodie Episode
Lindores will feature on Scotland’s Greatest Escape on BBC Scotland tonight, Wednesday 27th March. This is a TV series with 8 episodes and 12 destinations all competing to be Scotlands Greatest Escape. An incredible 1,400 businesses were shortlisted to 12 for the programme.
Lindores was absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted. Red Sky Productions were the film production crew on location with host Grado. The Foodie episode that Lindores is featured in films judges Fiona Campbell, Chair of the Association of Self Caterers and Masood Khodadadi, Lecturer in Tourism and Events Management at University of the West of Scotland.
What will the judges rate our accommodation, activities, customer service and overall experience? Time will tell, we will all be watching to find out!
The Glasshouse – where they stayed
During filming the judges checked into our architecturally designed 2 bedroomed holiday house called The Glasshouse. They were greeted with some optional added extra’s that all guests can book for a holiday at Lindores. Have a sneak peak at The Glasshouse located on the picturesque east coast of Scotland.
The Hide – where they ate
We’ve created a rather different food and drink experience on the top of a hill in a cosy BBQ cabin called The Hide. We simply followed our heart and created an experience that we felt was the right thing to do. It’s not your normal lunch venue. It’s a fully immersive, off grid destination you get driven to by 4×4 Land Rover.
We offer one lunch experience each day – that is the magic. It’s all about you!
The Hide will be one of the few places in Scotland to experience a ‘seed to sip’ and ‘farm to fork’ offering. How? Due to the sustainable and circular farming practices the family so passionately strive for. The farm barley is malted to make Lindores Abbey Distillery whisky 1 mile away but as part of the whisky production process, the farm collects the by-product ‘draff’ to feed the animals. Homebred succulent Lindores lamb is a hero ingredient in many bespoke Hide menu’s Request The Hide Brochure.
Local People – who they met
At Lindores, we collaborate with the locals to showcase local knowledge, artisan products & talent. For Scotlands Greatest Escape, Chris Fusaro was the ‘Sommelier’, pairing handpicked wines and whiskies from his St Andrews and Cupar based family business Luvians. The mouth watering bespoke menu was curated by Chef Andrew Spence a talented and acclaimed cook. Andrew’s menu was a showcase of seasonal, fresh Sottish ingredients and can be a delightful read in The Hide Brochure. Our piper was Ian Sinclair and of course we can’t not mention the farmer. Mr B was born here on the farm and attempts to show Grado farming behind the scenes. Oh dear!
Can anyone escape to Lindores?
Whether you wish to stay in our holiday houses, or eat & drink in The Hide cosy cabin. Lindores has worked hard to craft experiences that suit different foodie budgets and tastes. Whether you fancy a ‘DIY’ lunch in The Hide or you book a fully hosted luncheon like the judges devoured. It’s a delight for the senses and something different!
